EXCITER / GENERATOR CONTACTORS
The
IC2812 field controllers are for the application
and removal of dc power from an exciter or generator
field circuit. The controller consists of two
Normally Open (NO) power circuits and one Normally
Closed (NC) power circuit and associated control
and protective relaying. The 2 NO contacts apply
dc power to the machine field. The NC contact
inserts a resistor in the field circuit to discharge
the energy when the field power circuit is opened.
The contacts are arranged in a make-before break
configuration. The contactor is mechanically latched
when closed, and can be electrically or mechanically
tripped.
APPLICATION
Determine the Amperes of the Field at Full Load
(AFFL) rating. This AFFL rating should be on the
nameplate of the machine (exciter or generator)
on which the field breaker is to be used. This
AFFL rating determines which contator is applicable.
CONSTRUCTION
The
controller is a non-drawout type, with a padlock
feature to lock the contactor in the open position.
The 900 amp and 2500 amp controllers are incorporated
into an angle iron frame assembly with front cover
which is designed for mounting inside a cubicle.
The 265 amp assembly is based mounted. These controllers
include auxiliary relays for remote functions,
an antipump circuit and close and trip push-buttons
mounted on the front cover.
The anti-pump circuit ensures that the contactor
operates only once during the close operation.
A total of 11 auxiliary circuits are available
for interlocking. All devices are wired to a common
terminal board.
